Sai is pas­sion­ate about shar­ing the beau­ti­ful art of Cal­lig­ra­phy, not just for its aes­thet­ic appeal, but also because of its unique abil­i­ty to help us slow down, become com­plete­ly focused and enter a mind­ful state of flow.

From Beginner’s Mod­ern Cal­lig­ra­phy to advanced off­hand flour­ish­ing, draw­ing with a point­ed pen and explor­ing dif­fer­ent scripts, each ses­sion will focus on a dif­fer­ent aspect of Calligraphy.

Sai will share a vari­ety of tips and tricks, while sim­pli­fy­ing the process of using a tra­di­tion­al dip pen and ink. These ses­sions are suit­able for com­plete begin­ners, with no pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence required.

What to expect

1. We will cov­er the basics of point­ed pen Cal­lig­ra­phy, focus­ing on cre­at­ing beau­ti­ful thick and thin strokes using a dip pen and ink.
2. Once you become famil­iar with the pen strokes through prac­tice drills, you will learn how to cre­ate let­ter­forms step by step, fol­lowed by words and short phrases.
3. We will explore dif­fer­ent nibs, inks, papers and oth­er essen­tial tools used in tra­di­tion­al and Mod­ern Calligraphy.
4. You will learn use­ful tips and hacks to help you progress with your Cal­lig­ra­phy prac­tice, with plen­ty of oppor­tu­ni­ties for hands-on prac­tice and troubleshooting.
5. All learn­ing resources will be pro­vid­ed. How­ev­er, you will need a Begin­ners’ Cal­lig­ra­phy Kit to get started.
