Copperplate Calligraphy — Beginner’s Workshop (Online)

Description

Cal­lig­ra­phy — the art of beau­ti­ful writ­ing is a very reward­ing prac­tice that helps us get into a mind­ful state and remain com­plete­ly focused whilst cre­at­ing some­thing beau­ti­ful. In this 3‑hr Beginner’s work­shop, you will learn the basics of hand let­ter­ing and Mod­ern Cal­lig­ra­phy with Sai, an expe­ri­enced Cal­lig­ra­ph­er and teach­ing artist.

Using a tra­di­tion­al point­ed pen you will learn how to cre­ate beau­ti­ful thin and thick strokes through step-by-step demon­stra­tion. We start with basic drills, fol­lowed by let­ter for­ma­tion and faux Cal­lig­ra­phy. We will explore dif­fer­ent nibs, inks, papers and oth­er essen­tial tools for Mod­ern Cal­lig­ra­phy. There will be plen­ty of guid­ance to help you practice.

If you always want­ed to try mod­ern cal­lig­ra­phy or you sim­ply want to write beau­ti­ful­ly, this work­shop will intro­duce you to an amaz­ing life skill that is bound to spark your cre­ativ­i­ty and bring you joy.

No pre­vi­ous cal­lig­ra­phy skills required. The book­ing fee is inclu­sive of all mate­ri­als so you do not need to bring anything.

All par­tic­i­pants will receive a spe­cial­ly curat­ed Mod­ern Cal­lig­ra­phy Starter kit (which includes a Nikko‑G nib; straight nib hold­er; Rho­dia prac­tice pad; Kure­take Sumi ink and plen­ty of prac­tice work­sheets). Light refresh­ments will be provided.
